Interesting Historical Facts:

North Manzanilla housed the first Jungle Warfare Training School in the world for the Allied Forces during WWII. This Camp became known as,”The Road to Hell” since on average at least 4 servicemen were said to have died during their rigourous training exercises. However, much success came from training right here on Trini soil as the first unit 5308th Composite Infantry Regiment which later became know as,”Merill Marauders” found great fame fighting in Burma.
We will be running through that old camp site, etc!

Run: 825 Date: Dec 22 2012 Site: Hart’s Cut, Anchorage Hares: Commit – T 2013 Scribe: Texas Blow Ho

The rainy drive up the coast to Chaguaramas served as a warning for the wet and muddy run to come. As the group of eager hashers gathered at the edge of a thick, hilly forest, the rain dissipated into mist, and finally yielded to clearer skies. Although we may have waved goodbye to the rain, as soon as we hit the trail we said hello to the resulting mud and humidity. Such swampy conditions combined with an endless string of tangled vines, sticky thorns, and low-lying branches made for a mess of a trail suitable for both Shrek and of course all the best hashers. Never to fear, unlike in Barbados, where hashers are left wandering about to navigate the trail hareless, in Trinidad, a pack of hares were neatly stationed along the trail to ensure no stragglers were left behind. En route, hashers also enjoyed such charming sights as a lovely, winding stream; some sneaky peaks at the sea; and a cesspit of some unknown, smelly and unnaturally colored liquid substance. Thus, we all arrived muddied, a bit bloodied, and well exercised—ready to enjoy some beer.

It was a great run, and this representative of the Barbados Hash keenly looks forward to her next time on on in Trinidad!

Pradeep’s Energy

It was the start of my contribution to the Hash as HM for 2013. This is my way of giving back, taking responsibility to carry on the mantle to ensure that the Hash traditions continues. The site was appropriate as we were in the season we anticipated hashers rushing to do their choirs but remained firmed to their commitment of the hash run and we had a good turn out. The hares were a bit of tired bunch from all the partying during the season, some forgetting the trails and we had to cut our way out during the second recce and created virgin territory by default. Some came late slept in the car and then after another recce had to run home to clean his bathroom while expecting no company at home. Some never showed up until the last recce but that’s our tradition, thing just happens through the collective support of a great bunch of people. I want to say thanks to the Hashers who contributed so generously towards the charity run on January 16th, thanks to Mags for coordinating the fund raising initiative and to Ivan who has taken the responsibility to lead the hares for the Charity run. A special thank you to Al Smith who so generously give us the use of the Anchorage at No cost to the POS HHH.
