Well yet again our illustrious HM has made a questionable decision, this time in choosing (forcing) me to write this trash. So, under duress, let me tell you what I remember from the hash two weeks ago (I am writing this at the last minute of course)….
So we’re heading into Caura – a great site for a hash except that it floods there even during dry season? It didn’t take long for the first river crossing as the road packed up with hashers trying to cross the river. Eventually, everyone (except Enrique) realized that 3 inches of water didn’t really pose a problem to drive across.
The most difficult aspect of the hash was coming next…parking. Limited space, too much mud, and too many hashers thinking they can drive better than the last guy we just pushed out of the mud. If you see someone stuck in the mud and being pushed out, pretty good bet that you should not decide to park there yourself….especially if you go buy the big 4×4 and put slicks on it????
As a frontrunner, I can’t tell you much about what happened during the run other than we went up a river and then down a road. I am sure there were lots of interesting parts that had to be skipped due to the rain and the late start?
The after lime was a good one with lots of free drinks (who sponsored and why?), and thankfully the rain had stopped by then. There was a great building there for the lime but I don’t know what that was to be honest – was it a house, art studio, warehouse, or future drug processing lab? Regardless it worked out great for the hash lime and we should go back there for a dry season run!
Run No. 759 – 18th September, 2010, Run Site: Caura
Hashers do it in any kinda weather! And that was so true for this last run in Caura. After heavy rainfall all morning, we were greeted by brown torrents of water gushing off the hillsides and across the roadway leading into Caura. Could our cars make it? Only the brave were up to the challenge, eh Enrique, ent Central Possee? Frantic calls from Wahid bout ‘I aint sure these directions right’ as there were now a few new rivers rushing across the road, causing some hashers to turn back. The driving thrill over, we all wondered if there was any paper left marking the trail. But no fear, the Hares, a hashing partnership of the Cheerbabies and Choirboys, for future reference – the Cheerboys or Choirbabies, led the pack off along a modified trail. Full credit to them for a good run under difficult conditions. Some kegs later, and after some tasty bake and buljol, the hunch of happy hashers headed home thru the hillsides! (heeheehee).
Welcome Virgins: Natasha, Lisa, Christian, Nikita and Icesis
New Shoes: Andy Sutton and Vin Maharaj
Poofters: Christian Anderson for demolishing part of the mountainside and raining rocks down on an unsuspecting female hasher beneath him; Mike Hale, for damaging a perfectly good barbed wire fence, and Enrique, the winner, for turning back on the road because he was afraid to drive across some of the small steams running over the roadway.
DIRECTIONS TO THE NEXT RUN #763
DATE: October 16, 2010
HARES: Pradeep & the Big Dicks
RUN SITE: Somewhere in Central

Turn left on the overpass as you are heading to Gran Couva. Couples minutes after turning left and passing the Preysal cricket ground, turn left onto the Freeport Mission Road that takes you to Preysal…….DO NOT CONTINUE ON THE GRAN COUVA ROAD.
